New Pair of Glasses
A New Pair of Glasses, the Book by Chuck C. that shows us in one steady talk of his, that we are not the total sum of all life here on earth as we know it, and what it does take to be sober. There are many people who are ignorant, even knowing this I am ignorant of something. Everyone is. Ignorant is not a bad word, although sick people try to poison others with it, it simple means there is something that you don’t know, and not knowing something isa not wrong or bad, it’s just not knowing it.
Chuck takes us through some of the more important things that life has to offer an alcoholic, not a person not in recovery, where they could benefit, they don’t have to listen, their very lives as ex-problem drinkers does not depend on it. They will not necessarily die because they aren’t doing this.. But I will. So I cannot listen to the opinions or the advice of a non-alcoholic when it comes to matters on alcoholism. However, i can almost always trust the experience of a recovered alcoholic when speaking on matters of his alcoholism.
If I need accounting advice I go to my accountant. If I need legal advice I go to a lawyer. And if I need cooking advice, I go to Ms. Ray.. lol. But if I need advice on beating this drinking thing, on becoming recovered from the state that I was in, from escaping death that I was living. Then I go to someone who knows how to count, leagize, cook and get sober. Period.
Read Chuck C.’s Book New Pair of Glasses, and see for yourself what his experience can do for you, I guarantee that this book will enlighten you, give you some new ideas about your own sobriety and light the fire under just a little more about your sobriety.
Remembering that what we see, think, believe and think we know are facts whebn we come into AA, are not only going to be challenged, but they are going to be replaced hopefully from our lives, a new way of living doesn’t mean we keep are old way of thinking, that wouldn’t work. The ego wants us to keep our old way of thinking because the ego ran the show, there was no God to depend on, the ego got to make the rules and absolute power currupts, so we created (ego) so caklled character defects to get what we wanted, and that created problems because everyone else has the same ego dilemma to differeing degrees.
Changing what you’ve become is harder than is seems, but the steps are simple, so once you start thinking about them you know you’re done. They dopn’t need to einstein genious mind to disifer them. Instead , just start doing them and start applying them into your life. Stop wasting time trying decode the path that we’re on - there’s no need to beat a dead horse, about this get it taught, you can continue to take perdsonal inventory, but you’ve seen the truth, the truth is the truth and that is all, and then you simply need to do it, and keep doing it.
People are lazy and they are discontented with themselves, they won’t do a thorough enough job and keep doing it so they’ll blame something or someone, they look outside of themselves to find an excuse, someone to point the fuinger at - this is the opportunity that the ego has been waiting for, a chink in the armor, a chance to come out of hiding, and push the cart to victory.
You cannot let up on your spiritual game of recovery, every day is a day when I must carry God’s wil into all of my activities. Every day is a day when I must look to be rid of selfish, self centered behavior, be rid of fear and self-pity. I alone must do the work, but not by myself, but I alone and responcible to the work.
