The Alcoholism Solution
I am a grateful recovered alcoholic. My Big Book promises that I will be recovered from a spiritual malady, an experience with the Big Book promises me through doing the work, not just once, but on a daily basis, that I will be recovered, spared, removed from the desire to drink.
If you agree with everything that you are about to read in this book, it will not have served its purpose. If there is nothing new that I can at the very least, get you to consider about your own sobriety, than either, I am not doing my job as an author, or you already know all there is to know about sobriety and should be writing this book yourself.
As we move on, you’ll see that removal from drink is not my only problem, or bedevilment, the removal of my shortcomings, or character defects is increasingly important. The need for my serenity becomes my ultimate quest. Some sort of balance or feeling of quiet satisfaction.
Living in my head or my thinking, the Big Book tells me, this is the cause of all of my problems. Not just some of them, but all of them. If we are experiencing troubles in our life, the solution are to go out and help others, why is this? This is simply because we are selfish and self-centered to the core and a life based on self will not set well with others in which we have to live, and therefore create problems in all areas of our life.
Although the same goes for others imposing their wills upon us. They make us just as upset as we have made them. However, for the purpose of recovery we learn first to stop harming others, to start to be selfless and to start living our lives with a growing sense of character and avocation towards the aid of others.
We can address this issue if need be only after we have first taken a good hard look at ourselves, our attitudes and behaviors, the causes and conditions for the troubles and feeling we have, and have started to set out willingly, honestly, and open mindedly, on a path towards correcting and eliminating them altogether.
Taking a good hard look at your self is Vital to our spiritual recovery from a spiritual malady that we suffer from. This process is completely outlined in no uncertain terms (except for the alcoholic that is) is inside the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous.
This process is not easy, adversely it is not difficult, if you are willing, honest and open minded. If you are Not Willing, it is difficult. If you are Not Honest, it is Difficult. If you are Not Open Minded, it is Difficult. In fact, without these factors, it will be almost down right impossible, but since I’ve seen so many miracles in this program, I would be amiss to even suggest that, because with God all things are possible.
Some of the things that don’t work to keep someone, anyone, sober in AA are: moderate drinking, just don’t drink, just don’t drink and go to meetings, just AA service, just
